What's Different in Canada

A Beginner's Guide to the Differences Between the Two Most Similar Countries on Earth

Nanaimo Bars

Nanaimo Bars, named after the city of Nanaimo, BC, are amazing little treats made of a crumb layer, vanilla or custard-flavored butter icing, and melted chocolate made from chocolate squares. You can get these in some places in the US, but they are way more common in Canada (and invented there.) They used to serve the same function as Girl Scout cookies (raising money for a social group) but have since grown to be named “Canada’s Favourite Confection.”
